54TH SPEECH DAY & 1ST GRADUATION CEREMONY - 2003

AN INTERVIEW WITH 2003/2004 SENIOR PREFECT, GYABAAH VICTOR YEBOAH
prempeh.org: Hello S.P. Please tell us about your background

Gyabaah: I'm from Dormaa-Ahenkro in the B/A Region. I completed St. Johns Primary School also in the same town.

Senior Prefect Gyabaah VY prempeh.org: Why did you choose Prempeh?

Gyabaah: I was really compelled to choose Prempeh by her excellent performance in the Science & Maths Quiz. Therefore to be able to achieve a high academic status and to aid my future well being. I'm happy I chose the College.

prempeh.org: How does it feel to be Prempeh SP?

Gyabaah: I feel proud and good to hold this position. It has provided me with a very high self-esteem.

prempeh.org: What is the most difficult aspect of your job?

Gyabaah: Almost all responsibilities are tedious. My problem now is how to combine these responsibilities with my academic work.

prempeh.org: Tell us about our Headmaster

Gyabaah: Mr. Asamoah Owusu-Achiaw is very cooperative and inventive. He is, however, not very stern with his admissions policy thereby causing a population explosion of more than 2400 students.

prempeh.org: 2400 students?

Gyabaah: Yes, we are more than 2400.

prempeh.org: What about the teaching faculty?

Gyabaah: Differences among tutors are gradually being bridged. They are almost hundred in number now. Day in day out most of them are being appointed as Headmasters.

prempeh.org: What do you think their strengths are? What about their weaknesses?

Gyabaah: The teachers are very ambitious, alert and hardworking. They are however drawn so much into their extra classes than the normal classes hours.

prempeh.org: Who are your favorite teachers and why?

Gyabaah: I have a whole lot of them, including Mr Yeboah, Asst. Headmaster (Administration); Mr. Obeng-Odoom, Senior Housemaster; and Mrs. Asher. They are very open to students and very disciplined.

prempeh.org: Tell us about the state of the school today.

Gyabaah: Prempeh is now reviving under this administration. We however have a very long way to go to curb indiscipline whose major cause is the population explosion brought forth by the Headmaster's relaxed admissions policy.

prempeh.org: What makes the Prempeh experience great?

Gyabaah: The School has a supportive "Amanfoo" (Old Students Association), a considerable level of democracy, posseses the spirit of serious studies and always the first to invent.

prempeh.org: Tell us about some of our achievements in recent years.

Gyabaah:We ranged second to PRESEC in University admissions of KNUST, unbeaten in debates and always first in athletics competitions. Internally, we now have two satellites, a new House and a recreational center.

prempeh.org: What was your most cherished or memorable moment on campus?

Gyabaah: The 54th Speech & Prize-Giving Day and Graduation ceremony.

prempeh.org: What message do you have for Amanfoo around the world who may read this?

Gyabaah: We are proud of you. Continue to provide your help to the College. Our fame got faded but for now we are on the track of revival and it is forward ever, backward never.

prempeh.org: We wish you and the College the best of luck for this year. May you succeed in all your endeavours and gain admission into the University of your choice. We look forward to working with you in the near future.

Gyabaah: It is a pleasure and I'm always ready to offer you the required help. Thanks you.
